Are you detail-oriented, process-minded, and passionate about making sure every dollar is accounted for accurately and efficiently? Netrio is looking for a Payroll & Payables Specialist to join our Finance & Accounting team in our Golden Valley, MN office.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning payroll operations, improving processes, partnering cross-functionally, and supporting a growing organization with employees across multiple states and global regions.
The Payroll & Payables Specialist will be a key member of the Netrio Accounting and Finance team who will lead payroll operations across the United States and multiple international regions. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing, with a strong emphasis on multi-country payroll administration, reporting, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Rippling.
In addition to the primary responsibility of payroll, this role will also support certain payables and expense management activities, including (but not limited to) vendor invoice entry, benefit invoice reconciliations, company credit card administration, travel expense review, and expense trend analysis.
What you'll do
Payroll Processing & Administration
- Process and oversee end-to-end payroll for U.S.-based employees, including multi-state payroll compliance
- Support global payroll operations for employees in Canada, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, and India, coordinating with in-country vendors where applicable
- Ensure accurate processing of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, equity-related pay, retroactive adjustments, and terminations
- Maintain payroll calendars and ensure timely payroll execution across all regions
- Serve as a primary payroll administrator within the Rippling platform
- Act as a primary point of contact for payroll and PTO-related employee questions, ensuring timely and professional resolution.
- Partner with HR and Finance/Accounting to maintain accurate employee, payroll, deduction, and reporting data.
Compliance, Tax & Regulatory Support
- Ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Partner with internal-Netrio and external subject matter experts to develop and maintain working knowledge of country-specific payroll regulations and statutory requirements for Canada, UK, Philippines, and India
- Support payroll audits and respond to internal and external payroll inquiries
- Coordinate with Finance/Accounting and external providers to ensure accurate tax filings, remittances, and reporting
Benefits & Retirement Reporting
- Support payroll-related benefits administration, including deductions and employer contributions
- Prepare and support 401(k) reporting, reconciliations, and contribution audits
- Assist HR and Finance/Accounting with Form 5500 data preparation, coordination, and filing support
- Reconcile employee benefit invoices and investigate discrepancies as needed.
Other Payables and Expense Entry
- Expense Reconciliations and Review: Match invoices to purchase orders, receiving documentation, and other supporting records to ensure accuracy, including reconciliation of monthly employee benefit invoices, and support expense analysis to improve accuracy, visibility, and process efficiency.
- Travel Expense Oversight and Administration: Serve as the administrator for the Company’s employee expense reimbursement process, policy, and company credit card program. Review employee expenses for compliance with company policies and support timely resolution of expense-related questions or issues.
- Vendor Management and Invoice Processing: Support the Purchasing/AP team with maintaining vendor records, reviewing, verifying, and entering vendor invoices into the accounting ERP system, NetSuite, helping resolve invoice discrepancies, and responding to supplier inquiries.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of progressive payroll experience, including U.S. payroll processing
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems; Rippling experience strongly preferred
- 2+ years of proven experience handing general accounts payable; NetSuite experience preferred
- Experience with multi-state payroll compliance required
- Experience supporting multi-country payroll preferred, particularly Canada, UK, Philippines, and/or India
- Proficiency in Excel, including experience with Lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance, tax regulations, and reporting
- Demonstrated experience with 401(k) reporting and Form 5500 support
- Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
