Senior Payroll Tax Services Representative

Role Summary 

The Senior Payroll Tax Services Representative serves as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for clients navigating complex payroll tax compliance requirements. This role manages end-to-end payroll tax processing, reconciliation, and filing across multiple jurisdictions while ensuring accuracy and regulatory adherence. The Senior Representative mentors junior team members and partners cross-functionally to deliver an exceptional client experience. 

Responsibilities

• Manage and process payroll tax filings across federal, state, and local jurisdictions with accuracy and on-time delivery. 
• Research and interpret payroll tax regulations, staying current with legislative changes and advising clients accordingly. 
• Perform tax account reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner. 
• Respond to tax agency notices, conduct root-cause analysis, and coordinate responses on behalf of clients. 
• Serve as an escalation resource for junior representatives on complex payroll tax issues. 
• Collaborate with internal teams including implementation, support, and product to resolve client concerns. 
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Requirements

• 5+ years of payroll tax processing experience, with demonstrated knowledge of multi-state compliance. 
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and filing requirements. 
• Experience working directly with tax agencies on notices, audits, or reconciliations. 
• Proficiency with payroll software platforms; experience with Greenshades or similar SaaS solutions is a plus. 
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-technical audiences. 
• Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) strongly preferred.
