Job Title: Senior Operations Accountant
Reports To: Senior Manager, Operations Accounting
Location: Calgary, AB


Position Summary: This position is actively involved in the month-end preparation of financial and management reporting requirements for the company, including accounting entries, account reconciliations, and analysis for Canadian and U.S. operations. The Senior Operations Accountant also
assists with the development and integration of financial and operational projects, as required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-  Perform month-end accounting, reporting, and analysis, ensuring information flows and tasks are completed within established deadlines.
-  Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial information and assist with the compilation of the management reporting package.
-  Analyze operational and financial variances and provide insights to support decision-making and cost-control initiatives.
-  Support budgeting and forecasting processes, as required.
-  Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances monthly.
-  Perform domestic inventory reconciliations to ensure accuracy between operational and financial records.
-  Maintain PPE continuity schedules and ensure the completeness and accuracy of property, plant, and equipment records, including preparing fixed asset journal entries for additions, disposals, and depreciation, depletion, and amortization.
-  Review and post payroll entries, ensure accurate allocation across departments and cost centers, and reconcile payroll registers to vendor benefit invoices to ensure completeness and accuracy of employee-related costs.
-  Work with operations and finance teams to resolve local business and operational issues while ensuring prudent internal controls are maintained at all locations.
-  Ensure all assigned balance sheet account reconciliations are completed monthly and appropriate entries are made on a timely basis.
-  Support key projects, including both financial and operational initiatives, as identified.
-  Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
-  Undergraduate degree in business or accounting required
-  Actively working toward a professional accounting designation (CPA)
-  Minimum of 5 years of related post-undergraduate experience and knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
-  Experience with operational and management reporting, including variance analysis, would be an
asset
-  Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook
-  Knowledge of fixed asset and lease accounting would be an asset
-  Experience with CSOX and IFRS would be an asset
-  Microsoft D365 experience would be an asset
