Role Description
This is a full-time on-site/hybrid role for a Senior Tax Manager in the area of Trust, Estate, and Individual Tax, located in St Louis, MO. The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing tax planning, tax compliance, tax preparation, and staying updated with the latest tax laws for trusts, estates, and individual tax clients. The role includes supervising, training, and mentoring a team of tax professionals, reviewing/signing tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations, and providing strategic tax advice to clients in the area of Trust, Estate, and Individual tax.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the review and final sign-off of federal, state, and local tax returns for trusts, estates, and individuals.
Work with attorneys, wealth advisors, and other third parties to provide a team approach to assist clients.
Provide advanced tax planning, research, and consulting services across federal, state, and (as applicable) international tax areas.
Lead technical discussions with clients, providing proactive advice on tax savings strategies, regulatory changes, and risk management.
Oversee and guide clients through special projects (entity structuring, succession planning, etc.).
Supervise, mentor, and develop staff at all levels; provide regular coaching and feedback.
Manage engagement workflow, budgets, and deadlines, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
Partner with leadership on firm initiatives, including AI integration and process improvements with specific input on the areas of trust/estate and individual tax.
Develop cost estimates and proposals for new client engagements.
Qualifications
CPA or EA designation required
8+ years of public accounting experience
Demonstrated experience reviewing and signing tax returns for a variety of entity types
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail
Proven supervisory experience with the ability to lead, train, and mentor staff
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Comfortable in a hands-on, people-focused culture
