We are seeking a Senior Manager for Procurement and Sourcing for our Support Systems Division.
Summary:
Lead day-to-day procurement operations across Tactical Buyers and the Quotes function, ensuring fast, disciplined execution while driving the transformation from reactive, transactional purchasing to structured, strategic sourcing. Responsible for improving speed, consistency, supplier performance, and margin protection in a high-mix, fast-paced industrial environment while building processes, supplier strategies, and team capabilities that reduce reliance on spot buying over time.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead and develop a team of Tactical Buyers, Expeditors, and the Quotes function.
- Establish clear priorities, workload balancing, and accountability across the team.
- Drive a high-performance culture focused on urgency, ownership, execution, and continuous improvement.
- Coach and mentor team members to increase strategic thinking and procurement capabilities.
- Develop succession plans and career development opportunities for team members.
Procurement Operations & Execution Discipline
- Ensure rapid and reliable execution of RFQs, quotes, purchase orders, and supplier follow-up activities.
- Implement and enforce service level expectations for RFQ turnaround, PO cycle times, and supplier responsiveness.
- Establish daily and weekly operating cadences, including KPI reviews, workload management, and escalation processes.
- Improve visibility and control of procurement activities across the organization.
- Drive process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives across procurement operations.
Quotes-to-Execution Alignment
- Ensure strong alignment between quoting and purchasing activities to support profitability and execution readiness.
- Improve communication and coordination between the Quotes team and Procurement team.
- Reduce delays, rework, pricing inconsistencies, and missed commitments.
- Support commercial objectives by balancing customer responsiveness with procurement effectiveness.
Spot Buy Management & Optimization
- Lead and prioritize all spot-buy activities to support customer and operational requirements.
- Improve responsiveness while reducing firefighting through structured processes and accountability.
- Identify recurring purchasing patterns and opportunities for standardization.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce transactional purchasing and increase procurement efficiency.
Strategic Sourcing Transformation
- Drive the transition from transactional purchasing to strategic sourcing.
- Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, preferred supplier programs, blanket agreements, and long-term supply arrangements.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of sourcing opportunities based on spend analysis, purchasing trends, and business requirements.
- Partner with key stakeholders to improve procurement planning and reduce reactive purchasing.
- Lead sourcing initiatives that improve supplier performance, reduce risk, and optimize total cost of ownership.
Indirect Procurement & Sourcing Transformation
- Lead the development and execution of an enterprise-wide indirect procurement strategy across categories such as MRO, operating supplies, facilities, packaging, professional services, IT, and other indirect spending areas.
- Identify opportunities to standardize purchasing practices, consolidate suppliers, leverage spend, and improve total cost of ownership.
- Establish sourcing strategies, preferred supplier programs, and commercial agreements that improve service, quality, and cost performance.
- Partner with Operations, Finance, IT, HR, and other functional leaders to improve procurement governance and increase spend under management.
- Develop category management roadmaps and sourcing pipelines to transition indirect procurement from decentralized, transactional buying to a disciplined, strategic procurement model.
- Deliver measurable savings, supplier performance improvements, risk reduction, and process efficiencies across indirect spend categories.
Supplier Performance & Cost Management
- Support supplier negotiations and cost improvement initiatives.
- Monitor supplier performance, including on-time delivery, responsiveness, quality, and pricing consistency.
- Collaborate with Operations, Sales, Planning, Engineering, and Sourcing teams to improve overall supply chain performance.
- Support working capital improvement initiatives through inventory optimization and supplier collaboration.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
- 7–10+ years of procurement, sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain experience.
- Proven experience leading procurement or purchasing teams.
- Strong operational leadership skills with the ability to establish discipline, accountability, and execution excellence.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial distribution, construction products, metals, MRO, or similar industrial environments.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated success leading change and implementing process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in high-mix, buy/sell, distribution, or project-based procurement environments.
- Experience leading indirect procurement categories, including MRO, facilities, fleet, packaging, professional services, and IT spend.
- Experience developing category strategies, supplier rationalization initiatives, and enterprise-wide sourcing programs.
- Experience implementing procurement process improvements and supplier management programs.
- ERP experience within manufacturing or distribution environments.
- APICS, ISM, CPSM, CSCP, or similar professional certifications.
