Who We Are
The WeightWatchers Finance Team serves as a core driver of the company's business success. This team of experienced financial professionals leverages data analytics and best practices to deliver insightful financial reporting and analysis. These contributions empower strategic decision-making across the organization, ensuring the company's financial health and sustainability.
The Role
The Senior Manager, Accounting is a critical leadership role responsible for the day-to-day execution, quality, and continued transformation of Weight Watchers' North America accounting operations. Reporting to the North America Controller, this person will lead the team responsible for operating expenses and related close activities, while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and audit-ready support.
This is a hands-on role for a leader who can create clarity in a complex environment by setting ownership, establishing review discipline, developing the team, resolving issues before they become close blockers, and building scalable processes across evolving offerings. The successful candidate will combine strong accounting judgment with practical operating leadership to serve as a key partner in running the North America accounting function.
What you wil do
Accounting Operations and Close
- Lead the day-to-day execution of North America general accounting and operating expense close activities, including managing the close calendar, dependencies, status reporting, issue escalation, and delivery against the company’s close timeline.
- Oversee the preparation and review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, and supporting schedules, with a strong focus on completeness, accuracy, and clear audit trails.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of key accounting flows across U.S. and Canada operations, including payroll and benefits, leases, fixed assets, prepaids and accruals, marketing and other operating expenses, intercompany, cash, franchise arrangements, and other assigned general accounting areas.
- Drive disciplined variance and flux analysis and partner with FP&A and business stakeholders to explain results and identify emerging risks early.
- Act as the day-to-day escalation point for accounting issues, making sound decisions, documenting conclusions, and bringing material or complex matters to the North America Controller with a clear recommendation.
People Leadership and Team Development
- Lead and develop a multi-level accounting team that includes managers and individual contributors across general accounting, revenue, and accounts receivable operations.
- Establish clear roles, decision rights, performance expectations, and review standards; ensure work is appropriately assigned and that accountability sits at the right level.
- Provide timely, direct feedback and meaningful coaching, while building technical depth, business understanding, cross-training, and succession coverage across the team.
- Create an environment that values ownership, transparency, curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement, while maintaining high standards for execution and follow-through.
- Balance leadership with hands-on involvement: step into complex work when needed, but build durable processes and team capability rather than becoming a single point of dependency.
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful experience leading accounting teams and owning a complex monthly and quarterly close.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience overseeing general accounting areas such as accruals, operating expenses, payroll, leases, fixed assets, intercompany, and balance sheet accounting.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, financial analyses, and audit support with a high standard for completeness, accuracy, and documentation.
- Strong understanding of internal controls and SOX requirements in a public company environment.
- Experience driving process improvement, clarifying ownership, and strengthening team capability in an environment with changing systems, processes, and priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate accounting issues into clear decisions, actions, and risks for both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Strong judgment, organization, and follow-through. Ability to manage competing deadlines, challenge work constructively, and escalate issues early with proposed solutions.
Preferred
- CPA strongly preferred
- Combination of public accounting and public company industry experience
- Experience with subscription, digital consumer, healthcare or clinical, marketplace, or other high-volume transaction environments
- Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, familiarity with Workday, Looker, FCCS, or similar systems a plus
Base salary may vary depending on, but not limited to: skills, experience, and location. This role is also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package and annual bonus program.
