This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of inventory accounting processes across a global organization. As a key member of the accounting team, you will partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Retail, and Finance teams to support inventory accuracy, strengthen internal controls, and provide meaningful financial insights that drive business decisions.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for inventory-related general ledger accounts, including inventory in transit and intercompany transactions.
- Analyze purchase price variances (PPV), investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities by preparing inventory accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
- Ensure inventory transactions are recorded in accordance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Research and resolve inventory accounting issues while proactively identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
Inventory Control & Analysis
- Monitor inventory accuracy and analyze warehouse, retail, and supply chain performance metrics.
- Develop and deliver meaningful inventory analyses and reports that support operational and financial decision-making.
- Produce complex ad hoc reporting and financial analyses for leadership and business partners.
- Evaluate inventory movement, replenishment activities, shipments, and stock levels to identify opportunities for improved efficiency and control.
- Support inventory count programs by analyzing results, monitoring performance, and identifying trends.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Partner with cross-functional teams to improve inventory management processes and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Support the implementation of inventory control initiatives and best practices across the organization.
- Drive process improvements that strengthen internal controls, reduce risk, and improve compliance with the COSO framework.
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing documentation, analyses, and audit support schedules.
- Contribute to projects that improve reporting capabilities, automation, and data visibility through tools such as Power BI, Excel, and ERP systems.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or industry.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, and complex formulas.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA designation.
- Experience with inventory accounting in a manufacturing, distribution, or retail environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) ERP.
- Experience using Power BI and other business intelligence tools.
- Familiarity with inventory controls, cycle counts, reconciliations, and audit support.
Pay Range: $85,000-$100,000 annually plus bonus based on experience
