100% Onsite (Durant, OK) | Monday-Friday | 8:00AM-4:30PM | Labor Day Required

Job Purpose or Objective(s):  Produce reliable monthly and annual financial statements for Choctaw Nation and applying analytical procedures to verify the financial data. You will report to the Senior Director of Finance.

Primary Tasks:

1.       You will create monthly and annual financial statements from the general ledger.  Perform procedures that verify the accuracy.

2.       Apply accounting theory to financial information, prepare financial reports and interpret the meaning of accounting data.

3.       Work with independent auditors, provide financial data and supply supporting schedules and documents.

4.       Create financial summaries that will be published on websites, newspaper,and other public sources.

5.       You will perform auditing procedures on material transactions and ensure treatment per generally accepted accounting principles.

6.      Apply risk-based evaluations of internal controls and accounting processes.  Recommend improvements to current accounting procedures.

7.      Provide recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.

8.      Identify financial trends and consult with management on short and long-term business strategies.

9.      Conduct business studies on past financial performance. 

10.     You will develop financial forecast models for the future, based on listed assumptions.

11.    May lead assigned staff or have direct supervisor responsibility including performance evaluations, corrective actions, and promotional input.

12.     Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business-related field or 4 years related experience.

Intermediate skills in Microsoft excel (can perform complex functions)

Intermediate knowledge of financial statements preparation

Basic knowledge of governmental accounting principles

4 years of accounting experience

Qualifications
