Join our Group Finance team in a highly visible role where you will support the financial integrity, reporting, and regulatory compliance of our Group business. As a key contributor, you will provide financial analysis, accounting expertise, and leadership on reporting, tax, and process improvement initiatives while partnering with stakeholders across the organization. This role offers the opportunity to influence business decisions, support strategic projects, and help ensure compliance with IFRS, OSFI, CLHIA, Canadian tax regulations, and other industry requirements.

You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement, and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
What you’ll do:
Provide financial analysis, forecasting insights, accounting guidance, and support to staff, management, and business partners on complex accounting, reporting, and financial control matters. Participate in business unit and corporate projects, system changes, and PeopleSoft support activities to maintain data integrity, enhance reporting processes, and improve financial controls and operational efficiency. Complete monthly financial reporting activities, including general ledger accounting, management reporting, journal entries, accruals, and the preparation of reports for senior management and the Board of Directors. Identify opportunities and implement accounting and finance process improvements and automation Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reinsurance settlements, reporting, and accounting activities, including responding to industry, reinsurance, statistical information requests, and surveys. Calculate, process, and reconcile payments related to Third Party Claims Payers and Third-Party Health Connector Providers, while reconciling bank accounts for EFT, PAD, cheque, and online payment activity. Prepare, reconcile, and investigate Group accounting working papers, tax accounts, and financial records, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies and response to audit inquiries, while maintaining strong internal controls. Act as the Group Tax Team Coordinator, leading a cross-functional team to ensure tax changes are appropriately implemented across the Group division and reconciled accurately within the general ledger.
What you’ll bring:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (or international equivalent) and minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Advanced financial reporting and analytical skills, with the ability to prepare reports for management and Board-level audiences and translate complex financial information into actionable insights. Strong accounting and controls expertise, including account reconciliations, internal controls, accounting policy development, risk mitigation, and documentation of procedures. Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, and communicate the key drivers of business results to cross functional stakeholders and senior management. Proven ability to partner with cross-functional, Internal and External stakeholders to resolve complex accounting and financial reporting issues, provide recommendations, and support sound business decisions. Experience developing and maintaining accounting models, improving and automating processes, and participating in projects that impact accounting, financial reporting, or business transactions. Leadership and mentorship capabilities, with the ability to train, coach, and support other finance and accounting team members while delivering timely, accurate, relevant, and concise financial information and budgeting insights to stakeholders. Experience supporting financial reporting changes and maintaining compliance with IFRS, OSFI, CLHIA, and other regulatory requirements, including the implementation of new accounting standards. Ability to assess and implement tax-related changes across the business.
