Senior Financial Analyst – MoneyGram Online (Remote)

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to support the MoneyGram Online business. This role will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of MGO and function as a key strategic finance partner to MGO leadership, supporting financial planning, performance analysis, and decision-making across one of MoneyGram’s most important growth channels. The role is remote and all locations are acceptable. This is a highly strategic, analytical, hands-on role that requires strong business acumen, the ability to translate data into actionable insights and automate processes using AI. The Senior Financial Analyst will work closely with other cross-functional partners such as Growth Marketing, Product, and Business development to drive growth, improve profitability, and enhance financial visibility into digital channel performance. Primary Responsibilities Business Partnership & Performance Management

Support the MGO CFO and MGO leadership team in evaluating business performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving accountability across the digital channel. Provide data-driven insights to support strategic and operational decision-making using Excel, SQL queries, and AI tools such as Claude, with a knack for automating processes. Partner with Growth Marketing, Product, Pricing, and other cross-functional teams to analyze key drivers of customer acquisition, conversion, volume, revenue, and profitability. Contribute to business case development for new digital initiatives, marketing campaigns, corridor and market expansion, and product launches.

Financial Planning & Analysis

Support the annual planning process, monthly forecasts, and long-range planning for MoneyGram Online. Maintain and enhance driver-based models (e.g., customer acquisition cost, lifetime value, conversion rates) to improve forecast accuracy and provide forward-looking insights. Deliver timely and accurate variance analysis (volume, price, marketing spend, and cost) with clear commentary on performance drivers and recommended actions. Assist in developing KPIs and dashboards that track funnel performance (acquisition, activation, retention), app and web conversion, and unit economics.

Reporting & Analytics

Prepare Monthly Business Review (MBR) materials for MoneyGram Online, including reporting packs and executive-level summaries. Analyze financial, operational, and digital engagement data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement. Support the development of automated and scalable reporting solutions, including SQL-based queries and dashboards, to improve efficiency and transparency. Ensure data integrity and consistency across reporting systems and outputs.

Financial Control & Process Support

Partner with Accounting and Corporate FP&A to ensure accurate month-end close, including accruals, revenue recognition, and marketing cost allocations. Support financial governance processes, including review of business cases and adherence to internal controls. Assist in managing financial systems and tools (e.g., Oracle, Essbase, Cognos), ensuring timely and accurate data submissions. Help drive continuous improvement in planning, reporting, and analytics processes through automation, AI-enabled tools, and standardization.

What We’re Looking For

Education

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics or related field.

Experience

4–7+ years of experience in Finance, FP&A, or related analytical roles. Experience in financial services, fintech, payments, e-commerce, or another digital/transaction-driven business model preferred. Experience supporting a digital, e-commerce, or direct-to-consumer online channel finance team is a plus.

Skills & Capabilities

Strong analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. Solid understanding of financial statements, forecasting, and variance analysis. Proficient in SQL, with the ability to independently write queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze large data sets from financial and operational systems. Working knowledge of AI and automation tools (e.g. Claude, ChatGPT etc.) and an interest in applying them to improve financial analysis, reporting efficiency, and decision-making. Proficiency in financial systems and data tools (Oracle, Essbase, Cognos, or similar) and advanced Excel skills. Mindset focused on automation, scalability, and continuous improvement of finance processes. Ability to operate in a fast-paced, global environment and manage multiple priorities effectively. Strong communication and presentation skills in English, with the ability to influence stakeholders. High attention to detail combined with the ability to see the bigger picture.
