Overview:            The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring SMP has accurate financial records & in supporting finance transformation initiatives. They will be responsible for preparing and recording accounting entries, reconciling account balances and a key contributor for process improvement initiatives.

Primary Activities for the Role:

Prepare, review, and post journal entries (such as benefits, marketing & other accruals, foreign trial balances, segment reporting, US GAAP adjustments) with appropriate documentation Perform balance sheet account reconciliations (AR/AP, accruals, payroll-related accounts, US GAAP/elimination-related accounts, intercompany and others as deemed necessary) and proactively resolve variances Support the implementation of the payroll automated entry process & related post implementation monitoring activities Own assigned close calendar tasks and deliverables; ensure compliance with close timelines and reporting requirements Support the implementation of the direct interface of foreign trial balances into Oracle FCCS & related post implementation monitoring activities Prepare & maintain accounting & tax support schedules Performs ad hoc analyses and additional responsibilities as needed Support manager in finance transformation initiatives (e.g. shortening of close, automation, standardization, centralization) Develop strong relationships with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, AP/AR, HR/Payroll, and Operations to partner on streamlining cross-functional handoffs and ensuring data quality Support current & future system implementations (e.g. Oracle Planning, task checklist, reconciliation tool).

Experience & Skills for the Role:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience; Big 4 experience & CPA preferred Ability to exercise proper judgment, high attention to detail, team player/collaborative, self-starter & independent thinking Strong understanding of US GAAP; multi-national public company experience preferred; SOX control experience preferred Continuous improvement mindset: Comfortable navigating change and actively contributes to refining and improving processes as the organization scales Proficient usage of Microsoft 365 apps (Excel, Sharepoint, Copilot, Power BI, Power Query, etc.) Hands-on experience with Oracle FCCS / Planning, or other similar automation tools preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills
