Senior Financial Accountant

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely Management Accounts information, supporting business decision-making through insightful analysis and reporting. The role will also involve close collaboration with operational teams and senior leadership to drive financial performance, maintain financial control, and ensure compliance, while contributing to process improvements and team development.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly management accounts in line with reporting deadlines
- Review, analyse, & consolidate 50 brand-level P&Ls, ensuring:
- Accurate margin reporting
- Appropriate cost allocation
- Conduct detailed overhead variance analysis versus Budget and Prior Year
- Maintain accurate cost of goods sold pricing for all products
- Provide clear and insightful accounts commentary for Senior Leadership
- Consolidate three group companies accounts
- Maintain audit ready monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations
Business Partnering
- Support other departments with financial data, analysis, and insights
- Act as a key point of contact for financial queries across the business
- Assist in driving improved financial understanding among non-finance stakeholders
- Identify cost saving initiatives for department heads.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Support the year-end audit process, including:
- Preparation of audit schedules
- Liaising with external auditors
- Oversee the accuracy of tax submissions, including:
- VAT
- SSD (Sugar-Sweetened Drinks Tax)
- Excise Duty
- DRS (Deposit Return Scheme)
- Ensure financial data integrity and compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
Systems & Process Development
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and control
- Support the development and optimisation of financial systems and reporting tools
- Drive standardisation and automation of reporting processes where possible
Reporting & Ad Hoc Analysis
- Produce ad hoc financial reports and analysis for members of the Senior Leadership Team
- Support business initiatives with relevant financial modelling and insights
Team Management & Development
- Support and manage junior finance staff, including:
- Delegating tasks and reviewing work
- Providing training and ongoing development
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the team
Key Skills & Experience
- Professionally qualified accountant, 3-5yrs PQE (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Strong experience in management accounting and financial analysis
- Experience with indirect taxes and regulatory reporting (desirable)
- Advanced Excel skills exposure to Power BI
- Strong systems awareness and interest in process improvement
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Experience working in a fast-paced commercial environment (desirable)
- Experience managing or mentoring junior staff (desirable)
