We are partnering with a growing real estate investment organization to identify a Senior Accountant to join its Corporate Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, taking ownership of the month-end close process, and contributing to process improvements that support a growing business.
In this role, you'll work closely with accounting leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and support a diverse real estate portfolio. You'll also have the opportunity to mentor junior team members and collaborate with offshore accounting resources.
What You'll Do
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
Assist with the preparation of financial statements and ensure compliance with GAAP.
Review financial information provided by third-party property management companies for accuracy and completeness.
Support accounting for acquisitions, dispositions, refinances, and other real estate transactions.
Prepare consolidation and elimination entries as part of the financial reporting process.
Analyze financial results, identify variances, and provide meaningful insights to management.
Coordinate with internal and external auditors during audit engagements.
Help prepare annual financial statement disclosures and supporting documentation.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiency.
Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance to offshore accounting team members.
Support special projects and perform ad hoc financial analysis as needed.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
4+ years of accounting experience, including experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination of both.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
CPA designation or progress toward certification.
Experience in real estate, property management, or investment accounting.
Familiarity with Yardi or other real estate accounting systems.
Experience with consolidations and partnership accounting.
Public accounting experience, including Big Four or large regional firms, is a plus.
