Job Summary:
The Senior Consultant, Indirect Tax, works within Ryan’s Transaction Tax Group to deliver fee-based advisory support services to clients. The Senior Consultant will work on consulting engagements for clients, and present training to clients and internally.
This is a hybrid role with 1-3 days in office located in Mississauga, ON or downtown Toronto.
Duties and responsibilities, as they align to Ryan’s Key Results
Performs engagements for clients, including contingency reviews, due diligence reviews, audit defense, audit management, ERP installation assistance, harmonization implementation assistance, expense report update and design including Concur expense programs, exposure identification reviews, tax filing and other compliance engagements, tax matrix creation, update and evaluation, voluntary disclosures, objections and appeals, ruling requests and general consulting engagements as assigned.
Perform engagements on secondment to clients for such periods of time as may be arranged.
Prepares and presents fee-based tax seminars and workshops for clients. Training will be conducted in Ryan Training Center or on-site at client premises.
Assists clients with tax assessment analysis and provides recommendations for appeals.
Attends and participates in consultants’ monthly training meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA; CPA, CMA; or CPA, CGA) and/or five or more years accounting or tax-related experience in industry and/or public accounting environment. Candidate must possess a strong knowledge of Goods and Services Tax, Quebec Sales Tax and Provincial Retail Sales Tax legislation and policies, ideally working as a professional in the commodity tax field and/or having completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Commodity Tax Course. Candidates should also possess a strong command of written English.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research including TaxNet Pro and Knotia.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position requires limited supervisory responsibilities, including assisting peers and cross- checking work for accuracy and completeness. Collaboration with internal team.
Work Environment:
Standard indoor working environment (Hybrid with 1-3 days in office Mississauga or downtown Toronto).
Occasional long periods of sitting while working at computer.
Position requires regular interaction with employees and clients both in person, via e-mail, and telephone.

For candidates in the Mississauga, ON area, the base salary hiring range is $61,000 to $80,300
