Senior Buyer/ Procurement Specialist -
Full-Time on-site 5 days per week
Location: West Palm Beach, FL
Summary of Position
This position will provide support to the Purchasing Manager and the Company as a whole in procuring production, packaging, services and supplies. Initiates purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools; arranges for submission and inspection of sample products as required; close coordination with plant engineering and quality to assure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities.
Responsibilities
- Follow all necessary steps to place Purchase Orders as needed and directed by Manager using ERP system and best practices related to price and other terms.
- Monitor and track supplier quality and delivery metrics.
- Utilize competitive bidding process to select and manage suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
- Demonstrate excellent supplier negotiation skills.
- Secure and analyze quotations; negotiate prices and terms with suppliers; and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities.
- Organize and maintain online supplier folders to record all agreements, compliance documents, orders, and records for supply chain.
- Visit suppliers' facilities as needed and directed by manager, to qualify them as new sources and assist in the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery problems.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal skills. Demonstrate effective communication skills with customers and suppliers.
- Strong computer skills, including experience in Microsoft Office and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP/MRP) system.
- Highly organized to manage multiple products lines.
- Manage the activities of the purchasing and inventory; and purchase supplies and materials at the optimal price and delivery cycle while maintaining lowest possible inventory levels.
- Problem solving including the investigation of root cause analysis, and implement corrective action.
- Monitor and communicate key industry developments and trends (shortages, price escalations, etc.).
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Support and adhere to all ISO standards applicable to the Company.
- Wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment directed by the Company at all times.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude toward co-workers, other departments and the Company.
- Maintain respect, courtesy and professionalism toward all co-workers and the Company.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and management.

Qualifications &Knowledge Required

- Prefer 10 years’ experience in Procurement or Supply Chain.
- They must be very familiar with MRP logic - logic, not just experience using an MRP/ERP system.
- Need to understand HOW the math works.
- They should be very competent with IT systems: ERP's, Microsoft. Warehouse and Inventory Control experience in a supervisory role a plus.
- They should have a solid foundation of basic accounting fundamentals: GL accounts and why/how they work; Credit/Debit notes; payment types; voucher process; tax exemptions; etc.
- Apics CPIM or CSCP certification a plus.
- Very good understanding of how Quality Assurance works and how that partners with Procurement (what's a COC? NCR? MRB? RCCA?).
- Need to be technical - able to read part drawings, how to read certifications. Must have working knowledge of manufacturing methods: subtractive manufacturing; additive manufacturing; thermal processing; finishing.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Business or Engineering or equivalent experience
- Ability to multi-task and manage competing requirements
- Strong track record of cost reductions, broad knowledge of principles and practices within a professional field preferably with industrial products and experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience managing machine shops and casting suppliers required.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Must possess strong motivational skills with the ability to interface effectively with all functions, internal and external, of the company
- Sound analytical skills and ability to take responsibility for multiple projects to achieve goals and meet deadlines
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Purchasing Software
