This position works closely with fund managers, general partners, and finance teams, providing insight into complex investment transactions, valuation considerations, and fund operations. The Senior works more closely and consistently with clients than at any other level within the Firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and superviseaudit engagements for venture capital funds, management companies, and related entities from planning through completion.
- Develop and execute risk-based audit plans, with a focus on investment valuation, capital activity, and fund-level risks.
- Review and test fair value measurements of portfolio investments, including private company equity, SAFEs, convertible instruments, and other complex securities.
- Evaluate capital calls, distributions, carried interest allocations, and partner capital accounts.
- Coordinate with fund administrators, valuation specialists, and client finance teams to obtain and validate supporting data.
- Review audit workpapers, financial statements, and disclosures, ensuring compliance with ASC 946 (Investment Companies) and GAAP.
- Provide technical guidance on fair value (ASC 820), equity investments, and complex financial instruments.
- Monitor and updateengagement progress, budgets, and timelines, proactively communicating with leadership and clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with fund managers and client stakeholders, demonstrating responsiveness and industry knowledge.
- Mentor and coach audit staff, particularly on VC fund structures and investment-related audit procedures, providing written feedback regularly.
- Identify process improvements related to fund audit efficiency, data requests, and valuation review workflows.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Minimum of three (3) years of audit experience in public accounting
- CPA exam progress required, CPA license preferred
- Experience auditing venture capital, private equity, or investment funds
- Familiarity with fund structures (LP/GP), capital account reporting, and investor allocations
- Exposure to fair value methodologies and valuation support
- Master’s degree in accounting or related field
Compensation & Benefits
This role offers a competitive base salary along with a comprehensive benefits package. Salary ranges for U.S.-based positions are determined by geographic location and fall into one of three pay zones, which reflect the cost of labor in that area. The anticipated salary ranges for this position are outlined below and are subject to change:
- US Payzone 1: $97,600 - $122,000
- US Payzone 2: $88,000 - $111,000
- US Payzone 3: $80,000 - $100,000
