The Senior Associate, Payroll Tax supports the Finance department’s day-to-day activities with a focus on payroll tax compliance, payroll operations, reporting, and analysis. This role helps ensure accurate payroll tax reporting, supports expatriate payroll processes, and contributes to process improvements across payroll-related activities.
What You Will Do:
- Compile and analyze payroll information and prepare reports for HR, Accounting, Finance, and management.
- Prepare regular and ad hoc payroll and payroll tax reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
- Accurately administer expatriate employee information from HR systems into payroll systems.
- Maintain payroll records and document payroll tax and payroll-related processes.
- Review payroll tax reports and filings and work with third-party providers to resolve discrepancies.
- Respond to inquiries and process amendments and payroll tax adjustments to support compliance.
- Maintain an effective internal control environment by following FSG Policy and Procedural Statements.
- Identify and support process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Coordinate payroll audits with internal and external auditors and provide supporting documentation as needed.
- Perform funding reviews for payrolls, payroll taxes, benefits, and related payments.
- Support the timely and accurate processing of expatriate payrolls and payroll tax filings.
- Assist with special projects, audits, and departmental initiatives as needed.
- Support the Accounting team in researching bank reconciliation discrepancies and resolving outstanding items.
- Facilitate coding and reclassification of payroll service provider invoices to ensure accurate accounting.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
- Three (3) or more years of relevant payroll, payroll tax, accounting, or finance experience.
- Experience with multi-jurisdiction payroll tax reporting and expatriate payroll processes preferred.
- Experience with Form 940 & 941 preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of payroll tax practices, compliance requirements, and payroll operations.
- Knowledge of data privacy and security principles, with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Experience with accounting, payroll, HR systems, and spreadsheets; familiarity with Oracle, Dayforce, CloudPay, and Oracle HCM preferred.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and report payroll and payroll tax data accurately.
- Ability to perform reconciliations across HR, payroll, and financial records.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build positive working relationships with team members, stakeholders, auditors, and external providers.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, related instructions, and the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
Reporting Relationships:
Reports directly to a Director or above and does not have direct reports.
