We're looking for a full-time Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in La Jolla, San Diego!
In this role, you'll support a complex global accounting environment across multiple legal entities, currencies, and international business operations. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting knowledge, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and experience managing invoice processing, vendor relationships, and payment workflows within a sophisticated ERP environment. We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys tackling complex operational and accounting challenges, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
This is a hybrid position based in our La Jolla office. While there is no set in-office schedule, candidates should have the flexibility to work on-site as business needs require.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Process and review vendor invoices across multiple legal entities, currencies, and international business operations
- Ensure invoices are accurately coded to the appropriate legal entity, department, cost center, and GL account
- Collaborate with Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Asset Management, HR, M&A, and other stakeholders to resolve invoice and payment issues
- Support month and year end close activities, including accruals and AP reconciliations and reporting requirements
- Assist with implementation and continuous improvement of AP automation and AI initiatives
- Maintain 1099s and prepare annual reporting
- Support critical transactions and respond to urgent internal and external business requests
- Identify and recommend opportunities to improve AP processes and system efficiencies
- Provide internal and external audit assistance as required
- Follow established internal controls and assist in maintaining compliance within the accounts payable process
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc reports
- Handle the customer service needs of internal/external business partners
- Reconcile bank statements
- Ad hoc duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education:
- Highschool Diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field a preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years of progressive Accounts Payable experience
- Experience processing invoices within multi-currency and multi-entity organizations strongly preferred
- Experience using enterprise ERP systems (Yardi preferred)
- Experience working with high volume invoice environments and global teams preferred
- Bi-lingual a plus (Fluent in Spanish)
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Excel skills
- Knowledge of basic accounting concepts and principles GAAP
- Strong understanding of General Ledger system and Accounts Payable processing
- Understanding of multi-entity international accounting environments
- Experience with AP automation and workflow technologies preferred

Salary Range: $33 per hour - 38 per hour + bonus potential
