Senior Accounting Coordinator

We’re growing our Finance Team and hiring a Senior Accounting Coordinator who can take ownership across Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable. You don’t need both skill sets – come with depth in one, and we’ll round out the rest. You’ll join a team with other Accounting Coordinators, reporting into an Accounting Manager, and take a lead role in guiding more junior teammates as well as having exacting ownership of your duties.  

Depending on where your strengths lie, you’ll own keeping our customer accounts current – timely and accurate invoicing, payment collection, and reconciliation – or own the payables side, generating payments, reconciling vendor statements and credit cards, and resolving outstanding items and missing documents with vendors. You’ll take the lead on more complex reconciliations and escalations, help tighten our processes as we scale, and pick up general finance duties and troubleshooting along the way. Our business excels at communication, so you must be comfortable reaching out to clients, customers, or vendors by both phone and email – if you’re more comfortable on keyboard than a phone, this will not be the right role for you. 

As we grow through acquisition, you’ll also play a key role folding newly acquired companies’ AR/AP processes into ours – building trust quickly with their finance partners and getting their accounts onto our systems and standards. If you are new to the accounting profession and want to build your skills, this teams will deliver in abundance

Our Finance Team is located at HQ; the team is highly collaborative and works very closely as a large group. You will join a competent team and get exposure to various processes and other senior finance functions. You will learn…a lot!

To be successful in this role, you bring: 

• Exceptional attention to detail. This is your most important quality; you catch errors and discrepancies…better yet, you find them before they become mistakes! 

• Sound judgement – you can find discrepancies and catch anything problematic, making sure that work is done correctly (the first time) is essential. 

• Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude; this is a cross-functional role that deals with all our teams, but especially our Solutions (operations) team on a day-to-day basis. Understanding their requirements and delivering against them are key. 

• Experience in either Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable – you don’t need both, we’ll cross-train you on the rest. 

• You bring 5+ years of experience with a track record of owning your function end-to-end and improving how it runs, not just keeping up with it. 

• You’re comfortable mentoring or guiding more junior teammates. 

• Our business is very fast moving, and our team is responsive and readily adapts to new challenges. You are adaptable but a sharp study who can thrive in a culture of change but applies their learnings and experience as we grow. 

Bonus Points: 

• You have used previous accounting software and understand the functionality of this type of tool. 

• You have experience in the logistics or freight industry and can readily apply your knowledge to our business – other industries are welcome too, but this is a strong plus. 

• You’ve helped integrate an acquired company’s finance function before and have a knack for building trust quickly with new partners and teams – we’re growing through M&A, so this comes up often.
