About the Team
The Finance Team is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for our manufacturing plant in Jurupa Valley, CA. The Finance Team consists of an Accounting Manager, Assistant Accounting Manager, Payroll and Tax Coordinator and an AP Specialist working together and with other departments to collect and remit payments, process vendor invoices, create month-end and year-end financial reporting, and assist the sales team with project-specific financing needs.
About the Role
The Senior Accountant will work under the direction of the Accounting Manager to organize, code and input invoices into the company’s accounting system ensuring proper record keeping, developing best practices and procedures, ensuring accurate and timely month-end close accounts payable tasks and reports. The Senior Accountant will also lead project accounting and is responsible for ensuring that project orders are processed and billed accordingly.
What You Will Do
- Support the monthly close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of assigned areas, including preparing journal entries and performing reconciliations
- Manage daily operations for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other account reconciliations
- Prepare work for sales tax filings, collaborate with external accountants/tax advisors, and ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Participate in internal and external audits, providing required documentation and assisting with the implementation of audit recommendations
- Oversee the accounts payable function by reviewing vendor invoicing and monitoring payment cycles, performing vendor account reconciliation, ensuring accurate expense recognition and strong control practices
- Manage accounts receivable – perform partial billings, collections
- Back up accounting manager as needed for:
- Assist CSCs and customers with balances due and sales tax calculations
- Review resale/exemption certificates
- Review and sign waivers
- Process PayApps such as Textura/Procure for progress and final invoices
- Assist with fixed assets
- Assist with Project Financing – Mechanics Lien
- Other projects as needed
What You Will Need
- Proven track record of success as a Senior Accountant or similar role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Exceptional organizational skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Familiar with revenue and expense laws in multiple states
- Ability to problem-solve and actively address issues in a professional and effective manner.
- Manufacturing or construction background preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels
- Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, like NetSuite
- Experience processing Mechanics’ liens in various states preferred
- Customer-centric business philosophy and team-oriented mindset
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced and changing environments, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Experience working with international companies a plus
