Senior Accountant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monthly basis

• Prepare and enter monthly journal entries (G&C, GIC, GCSC, GICLA, GID, Severn, GPP, DPP, VER).
• Create Financial Statements monthly (G&C, GIC, GCSC, GICLA, GID, Severn, GPP, DPP, VER).
• Perform crosschecks for balance sheet accounts monthly.
• Scan monthly work papers into ImageDesktop. This includes financial statements, manual journal entries, and monthly work papers.
• Prepare the workers compensation report to be send the Gray & Company for WC, AL, GL coverage.
• Various reconciliations
• Other duties as assigned/ required.

Quarterly and Annual basis

Prepare and filed the quarterly and annual statements for the insurance companies

• Prepare the combined annual statement
• Responsible of the NAIC and AM Best fillings
• Other duties as assigned/ required.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Highly proficient with accounting software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

• Accounting degree (preferred)
• Five or more years in accounting

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Physical demands are considered to be that of an office environment with minimal physical exertion. This position requires prolonged sitting, ability to utilize a computer and interactions with others in meetings or via phone.
