Senior Accountant – Sales Tax

We are seeking a Senior Accountant with expertise in Sales & Use Tax to support a growing organization with multi-state operations. This role is highly focused on state and local tax compliance, while also contributing to broader accounting functions, financial reporting, and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all aspects of sales and use tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing of returns across multiple state and local jurisdictions
• Monitor and interpret state and local tax regulations, ensuring compliance and proactively identifying risks or opportunities
• Manage sales tax audits and inquiries, including documentation, reconciliations, and resolution of notices
• Maintain accurate tax account reconciliations and ensure proper application of tax rules to transactions
• Oversee indirect tax processes, ensuring accurate billing, invoicing, and tax treatment of sales
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including general ledger entries and financial reporting
• Assist with accounts receivable, cash applications, and collections as needed
• Support payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable tax reporting requirements
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting activities
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting and tax processes, controls, and efficiencies

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
• 8–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong emphasis on sales and use tax
• In-depth knowledge of multi-state tax regulations and compliance requirements
• Experience managing audits from state and local taxing authorities
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
