Overview
Perform various accounting duties and financial analysis for the Accounts Payable/Payroll GL functions company-wide.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily and monthly accounting functions including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals to ensure accurate and timely recording of payroll and benefits expenses.
- Assist in month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and financial statements are accurate.
- Utilize data analytics to ensure completeness and accuracy in recording expenses and related accruals in the general ledger.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in accounting workflows as well as look for opportunities to implement analytical procedures for large sets of payroll and benefits data.
- Communicate key information to other accounting team members and management.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit inquiries.
- Collaborate with various departments, including payroll cash disbursements, benefits, FP&A and operations to identify and support account balance and statistical fluctuations.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and corporate policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Two to three years accounting experience, ideally with public accounting firm, or public/large private company.
- Previous experience with payroll preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Background with data analytics
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, strong organizational and documentation skills, ability to work as a team as well as self-directed to meet deadlines, receptive to real-time feedback and continuous process improvement.
- Ability to utilize new tools and technologies in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to effectively prioritize, execute tasks and provide accurate and efficient service under the stress of tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Computer literacy, including Excel, Word, and related accounting systems. Oracle Fusion and ADP experience preferred but not necessary.
