Part-time Senior Accountant
20-32 Hours per Week | Flexible Schedule | Primarily On-Site
The Boston Home, an active and innovative long-term care community in Dorchester, is seeking an experienced, dependable Senior Accountant or consulting accountant to manage key monthly accounting, financial reporting, and cash management responsibilities.

Responsibilities
- Manage the monthly financial close process
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries
- Maintain prepaid expense, accrual, fixed-asset, and other supporting schedules
- Reconcile general ledger and bank accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Monitor daily cash balances and assist with short-term cash planning
- Coordinate cash transfers, funding needs, and banking activity
- Assist with audit preparation and other financial reporting requirements
- Perform related accounting and administrative duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Degree in accounting or a related field preferred
- At least three years of general accounting, bookkeeping, or financial-close experience
- Strong understanding of journal entries, account reconciliations, accrual accounting, cash management, and financial statements
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Excel and accounting software
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small finance and administrative team
This position is expected to be primarily on-site at The Boston Home. The weekly schedule is flexible and can generally be arranged over two or three days, based on the needs of the organization and the successful candidate.
Some limited remote work may be possible after the individual is fully familiar with our systems and monthly processes, but candidates should be comfortable working predominantly on campus.
Our gated campus offers free on-site parking and is conveniently located near Routes 93, 203, and 28. We are also accessible by public transportation and within walking distance of Ashmont Station.
