Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Controller, the Senior Accountant serves as a key contributor to MPE’s financial operations—leading accounts receivable and payable processes, overseeing ERP workflows, reporting, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger. This role combines hands-on accounting responsibilities with process leadership, driving continuous improvement across invoicing, reconciliations, cash management, and reporting while maintaining compliance with MPE policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Lead and improve accounts receivable and payable processes in ERP. Establish, train and oversee processes with team.
- Bring expertise and use collaborative teamwork to successfully transition accounting operations processes and team into ERP.
- Identify and resolve process challenges in ERP, implementing improvements to correct errors and optimize workflows.
- Oversee and ensure completion of the invoicing process to ensure timeliness, accuracy and appropriate documentation. Assist with invoicing workload across team.
- Develop and implement effective collection reporting and procedures to minimize overdue accounts while maintaining positive customer relationships. Assist with collections workload across team.
- Oversee accounts payable processes to ensure timely and accurate payments; assist with invoice vouching workload across the team.
- Responsible for companywide cash and credit card reconciliation process.
- Perform cash forecasting, projecting cash balances and determining funding requirements.
- Monitor, identify, and correct posting errors and other transactional issues in ERP.
- Prepare journal entries and ensure proper documentation.
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Lead analysis and make determination of accounts receivables allowance for doubtful accounts for quarterly financial statements and year-end audit.
- Ownership over other key accounts such as prepaid expenses, fixed assets, goodwill, lease liabilities and others.
- Support preparation of financial statements and management reports; generate and analyze data across sales revenue, production metrics, costs, and cash flow to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Support and maintain cost accounting systems, including standard costing, inventory valuation, and cost analysis to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and operational decision-making.
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and timely responses to auditor inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Partner with cross-functional teams—including operations, sales, and customer service—to deliver financial insights, resolve payment issues, understand product and operational costs, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial operations.

Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar or equivalent experience
Experience and/or Training
- 5+ Years of experience in accounting or finance
- Experience working with ERP-IFS preferred
