Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for accurate financial reporting, month-end close, and full-cycle payroll processing. This role requires experience in a manufacturing environment, including cost accounting, inventory processes, and production-related financial workflows. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Accounting (70%)
- Lead month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations (cash, payroll liabilities, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, etc.).
- Support budgeting and forecasting with variance analysis and financial insights.
- Assist with annual audit preparation and serve as a primary contact for auditors.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Review AP/AR transactions for accuracy and proper coding.
- Perform manufacturing accounting tasks, including inventory valuation, standard cost updates, WIP tracking, and production variance analysis.
- Support internal controls, process improvements, and automation initiatives.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports as needed.
Payroll (30%)
- Process full-cycle payroll for [weekly/bi-weekly/semi-monthly] schedules using [Paylocity or your system].
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- Maintain payroll records and employee data with strict confidentiality.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll-related journal entries.
- Review and/or file payroll tax returns, W-2s, and other required filings.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and accurately.
- Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll laws.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or CPA-track preferred.
- 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- 2–3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment required (cost accounting, inventory, production processes).
- Payroll processing experience strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal controls.
- Experience with Paylocity, ADP, or similar payroll systems.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work cross-functionally.
