Job Summary
Oversee accounting and Reporting for the Company’s Investments.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reconcile e-investment holdings and activity to supporting reports and custodial accounts. Accounting for the Company’s private investment portfolio including equity method investments in renewable energy and limited partnerships. Monthly close process – preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, review of trial balance, financial statement preparation including analytics. Prepare quarter-end financial reporting packages and schedules. Assist with the Company’s SEC filings and NAIC Statements. Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and other special projects as needed. Adherence to Company internal controls and accounting policies.
Provide client assistance as needed for internal and external audits.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of both GAAP and Statutory Accounting Standards
Experience and Education Sr. Accountant
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required 2-3 years of relevant experience CPA or CPA candidate preferred Property and Casualty insurance experience a plus Experience with Clearwater Analytics, LLC a plus Investment accounting experience a plus
SEC reporting experience a plus
Staff Accountant II
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related required CPA designation strongly preferred Five years’ experience in corporate and/or public accountancy or finance roles required Two years of hands-on accounting experience within the Property and Casualty Insurance industry strongly preferred
Staff Accountant
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related required Three years’ experience in corporate and/or public accountancy or finance roles required Working towards CPA designation a plus
Hands-on accounting experience within the Property and Casualty Insurance industry desired, but not required
