Hunt Forest Products is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support financial operations across Hunt Forest Products, LaSalle Lumber Company, and Bienville Lumber Company. This role requires a result-driven, detail‑oriented professional with strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, maintains strict confidentiality, and works collaboratively with a professional, solutions‑focused mindset. A strong emphasis on process improvement, organization, and cross‑functional collaboration is essential.Key Responsibilities
- Prepare budgets, quarterly forecasts, weekly financial statements, and board-level financial presentations
- Lead month‑end and year‑end close processes for mill locations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
- Analyze operating costs, including utilities, supplies, and expenses, and provide actionable insights to Operations
- Review production and operational reports, identify irregularities, and support mill managers with P&L reviews
- Support annual financial audits, income tax data requests, and routine bank compliance testing
- Assist with sales and use tax analysis, tax incentive management, new market tax credit reporting, and inventory audits
- Maintain and reconcile log and inventory data within LIMS, ensuring accurate financial integration to G/L, A/P, and A/R
- Process weekly settlements, month‑end reconciliations, journal entries, inventory reports, and fiber cost analysis
- Support Forestry and Operations through accurate financial reporting, severance tax payments, and summarized cost findings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, cost accounting, and internal controls
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret large data sets
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills
- Self‑directed with a process‑improvement mindset
Location
Position is not remote - must live within daily commuting distance of Ruston, LA
Preferred Experience
- Accounting experience in manufacturing, wood products, or industrial operations
- Experience with wood management systems such as 3LOG/LIMS or Aldata ERP experience (JDE, SAP, Dynamics 365, or similar systems)
