A Day in the Life:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for General Ledger account reconciliations and monthly journal entry preparations. Ensures compliance with Hertz policies, internal controls, and Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Assist in driving continuous process and procedural improvements.
We expect the starting salary to be around $85,000; the actual salary will be determined based on years of relevant work experience.
What You’ll Do:
- Reconcile and/or approve assigned general ledger accounts of highest-level complexity (with corresponding evidential support)
- Assist in facilitation and completion monthly close procedures
- Provide quarter end and year end reporting deliverables to tax and financial reporting teams
- Complete SOX 404 controls related to critical accounting processes
- Analyze accounts to ensure they are recorded appropriately on a monthly basis, and proper accounting procedures have been followed
- Ensure all necessary journal entries (including accruals) to ensure expenses and income are properly recorded in the correct accounting period.
- Investigate and report to the manager any inconsistencies or improprieties.
- Prepare financial reports, charts, tables and other exhibits as requested
- Train new employees and ensure training material/documentation is kept current
- Projects as assigned by Management.
- Work with both external and internal audit teams as needed
- Maintains a ‘Best practice sharing culture’, always striving to find ways to improve service and change mind set.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum 3+ years of Accounting Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting and CPA eligible preferred
- Working knowledge of MS Excel
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong analytical and accounting skills.
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
- The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his / her work product.
