The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Controller in managing the financial operations of the company. This role involves overseeing accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, managing budgets, and supporting strategic financial planning. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with the accounting team to maintain internal controls, drive process improvements, and ensure compliance with financial regulations.

Accounting Department Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/Part 32. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial data
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the budgeting process, including preparation, analysis, and reporting of financial forecasts and variance analyses
- General Ledger Management: Manage the general ledger, including month-end and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, and journal entries
- Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary documentation and analysis
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in financial operations
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including sales and use tax, payroll tax, and other financial reporting requirements
- Special Projects: Assist with special projects and ad-hoc financial analyses as needed to support the Controller and senior management
- Inventory: Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions, including purchases, returns, transfers, and adjustments. Reconcile inventory sub-ledgers with general ledger accounts on a regular basis. Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory counts and variance analysis
- Competencies: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in financial transactions
- Team Mentorship: Provide mentoring, and professional development to the Plant Accountant and Billing & Accounting Support Specialist while fostering collaboration across departments to ensure financial processes supported operational goals and continuous improvement.
- Back up to Accounts Payable Management: Perform AP processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and collections. Review, verify, and process invoices, ensuring correct coding and approval in compliance with company policies. Prepare and process electronic transfers, ACH payments, and check runs on a timely basis. Maintain and update vendor files, address payment inquiries, and resolve discrepancies with vendors promptly

General Qualifications
- Ethical Conduct
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Experience with process improvement and internal control development is a plus
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior accountant role.
- One year of telecommunications accounting experience preferred

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
