The Senior Technical Accountant is responsible for supporting the Controllership function which oversees the accounting group. This role plays a key part in problem solving complex accounting challenges as they arise including performing accounting research and documenting conclusions as needed. This role reports directly to the Accounting Manager coupled with significant partnering with other Managers, VPs and the CEO.
This role will also be responsible for reconciling higher risk general ledger accounts and recording journal entries. This position plays an integral role in closing the month timely and accurately.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in global month/quarter/year end close and consolidation processes including detailed review and analysis of results.* Work closely with Forj Medical subsidiaries to ensure financials are in accordance with US GAAP Support technical accounting research and review of technical accounting memos supporting the Company’s position as it relates to the researched topics in accordance with GAAP.* Assist in new accounting pronouncement adoptions and related analysis/process modifications. * Be the primary liaison for third party consultants such as audit, tax and legal.* Serve as a liaison for tax issues that arise including the annual tax provisions, tax returns, transfer pricing analysis, etc.* Ensure accurate, timely filing of consolidated federal, state and local income tax returns and other business-related filings. * Support the annual insurance renewal process. Assist in analyzing internal controls to ensure we are incompliance and implementing internal control improvements relevant to a private company.* Participates in month end close activities, including creating journal entries and reconciling high risk accounts. Aid Controllership in the preparation and filling of all external reporting including the preparation of underlying schedules such as cash flow proofs, equity roll forwards, footnotes, etc. and bank reports and 401K financials. Assist in reviewing, analyzing, and implementing process improvements. Key participant or driver in system automation changes and upgrades Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting from four-year college or university or equivalent CPA preferred/required.
Experience:
Minimal five (5) years of public accounting and/or industry experience that includes financial reporting and US GAAP 2-3 years of technical accounting or tax experience Manufacturing Industry Experience
Skills:
Technology - Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook & PowerPoint; very strong Excel. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills. Working Habits - Self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively. Must be able to multi-task, manage time well and meet critical deadlines. Communication - Excellent interpersonal & communications skills, both verbal and written; strong organizational skills.
