Senior Accountant
Reports To: Executive Assistant to the CFO
Location: Newport News Corporate Office
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant is a key contributor within the corporate accounting function, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of the organization’s financial records and consolidated reporting. This role applies advanced technical accounting expertise, leverages modern accounting systems and automation tools, and supports compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities
Corporate Financial Reporting
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate financial statements, including consolidated reporting, in accordance with GAAP
Technical Accounting
Research, document, and apply appropriate accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions; support accounting policy development
General Ledger + Close
Perform and review complex general ledger reconciliations; support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness
Budgeting + Forecast Support
Support corporate budgeting, forecasting, and reforecasting processes; analyze budget-to-actual variances and identify key drivers
Systems + Accounting Technology
Leverage ERP systems and advanced accounting tools to automate processes, improve data integrity, and enhance reporting capabilities
Internal Controls + Compliance
Maintain and strengthen internal controls; support audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements
Financial Analysis
Conduct financial and cash flow analyses to support leadership decision-making and strategic initiatives
Process Improvement
Identify and implement accounting process improvements, system enhancements, and documentation best practices
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with finance, operations, HR, and leadership teams to provide accounting expertise and financial insight
Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the corporate accounting function
Core Competencies

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CMA preferred
- 3-5+ years of progressive corporate accounting experience
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with ERP systems and reporting tools is highly desirable
- Experience supporting audits, internal controls, and financial reporting
