Dart Transit Group is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive Senior Accountant to serve as a key finance partner. This role manages the financial close process, prepares journal entries and reconciliations, analyzes results, and provides timely reporting that helps leaders understand business performance.
The ideal candidate has solid accounting fundamentals, sound judgment, and a continuous improvement mindset. What You'll Do
Accounting & Close
- Serve as the key accounting contact for other functional areas.
- Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analyses in support of the monthly close process.
- Review financial activity for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with company accounting policies.
- Research variances, investigate unusual activity, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
Business Partnership & Analysis
- Translate accounting and financial information into clear insights for business partners and management.
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting activities for assigned business units.
- Support decision-making through thoughtful analysis of financial results and operating performance.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting workflows, and close efficiency.
- Work effectively across multiple transaction processing systems and financial tools.
- Help strengthen documentation, consistency, and controls across assigned accounting responsibilities.
- Leverage Excel, financial systems, and emerging technology tools to improve accuracy and productivity.
Proactively support the organization's goals and objectives with a focus on continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
- 4+ years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting fundamentals.
- Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with financial systems and large datasets.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar ERP/accounting systems.
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, business unit reporting, or operational analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA
- Familiarity with Power BI, reporting tools, workflow automation, or other finance technology platforms.
- Interest in using AI and emerging technologies to improve accounting, reporting, and analysis processes.
- Experience in a private equity environment.
Industry Experience
Transportation, logistics, or trucking experience is helpful but not required. We value strong accounting fundamentals, curiosity, communication, and a desire to understand the business more than industry-specific experience.
