Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Senior Corporate Accountant located in Newport News, VA. The Senior Corporate Accountant will oversee financial reporting, manage accounting functions, maintain accurate financial records, and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, managing general ledger activities, reconciling accounts, and supporting the month-end and year-end close processes. Additional tasks may include analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting principles.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and experience in financial reporting, managing general ledger activities, and preparing financial statements
- Proficiency in account reconciliation and maintaining compliance with accounting standards
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; CPA is preferred but not required
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within an on-site team environment
- Strong organization, time management, and communication skills
- Prior experience in property management or real estate accounting is a plus
- Strong experience with QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience with OneSite and/or RealPage Accounting is a strong plus
- Strong experience working in a multi-entity environment
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple entities
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure proper eliminations
- Manage and process investor distributions, including tracking and reporting
- Prepare and file personal property tax returns and business license applications/renewals
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and variance analysis
- Review property-level financials for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with corporate reporting
- Assist with tax request and work directly with external accountants as needed
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree
• 5+ years of work experience with Excel Formulas
• 5+ years of work experience with Microsoft Excel
• 5+ years of Real Estate experience
• 5+ years of experience in Accounting/Auditing
