Position Purpose

The Senior Accountant will support excellence in financial reporting and accounting operations ensuring Capstone Green Energy’s financial integrity, operational excellence, and innovative approach to financial management. The Senior Accountant will support the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes and operations in compliance with GAAP, SEC and other regulatory requirements. They will support analysis and process improvements to drive best in class accounting operations and be data-driven. This role helps to safeguard and elevate Capstone’s reputation for innovation, reliability, and financial excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage and execute day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, preparation of supported journal entries, and account analysis
• Support the month-end and quarter-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting through the preparation of schedules and account reconciliations such as A/R, prepaids, A/P, ROU assets/liabilities, debt, fixed assets, accruals and other liabilities
• Collaborate in the preparation of monthly trend/fluctuation analysis
• Assist in performing accounting evaluations through research and technical assessments under GAAP, when necessary
• Prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual financial data in accordance with GAAP, company policies and best practice
• Support the preparation of the Company’s Form 10-K and 10-Q, including the financial statements, schedules and footnotes
• Review and propose revisions to accounting and business processes to ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, company policies, and best practice
• Prepare and file compliance reporting which could include state and local sales and property taxes, as well as other local jurisdictional requirements; assist in income tax compliance
• Support external audits in providing required support and documentation
• Collaborate with A/P, A/R, inventory/cost, and other accounting team members on various accounting and operational matters
• Teach, coach and mentor staff, providing technical guidance and professional development
• Propose and/or assist the Assistant Controller or management on projects, as needed, and as a basis to further growth

Skills and Abilities Required

• Must be proficient with Excel
• Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP, operational accounting processes and the ability to work with team members
• Ability to perform moderately complex technical accounting analysis
• Must demonstrate strong ethics, a proactive mindset, and a sense of urgency
• Effective communication, strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities
• Experienced in general ledger operations and/or strong public accounting background
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Must demonstrate knowledge of or experience over public company reporting and SOX requirements

Education and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting and industry experience preferred
• Must be able to work on-site daily at our Van Nuys, CA office.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA and/or active CPA license
• Experience in manufacturing, consumer products, construction or similar industry
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills
• Experience with process improvement and automation projects
• Experienced in leases, fixed assets, inventory, revenue

Compensation

Base salary range: $100,000 – $115,000, plus performance-based annual incentive opportunity
