Senior Accountant
Position Overview:
This role supports a diverse client base of small businesses by managing day-to-day accounting functions, improving financial accuracy, and bringing clarity to complex or disorganized financial records. It requires strong expertise in QuickBooks and other accounting platforms along with the ability to communicate financial information clearly to clients. The position also plays a key role in mentoring junior staff while managing multiple client engagements and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Accounting & Financial Management:
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions for multiple clients, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Clean up and restructure complex or disorganized financial records, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all client deliverables
- Communicate financial results and concepts clearly and effectively to clients
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and internal controls
Software & System Expertise:
- Utilize QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) and other accounting platforms to manage and maintain accurate client financial records
- Diagnose issues, reconcile complex or incomplete financial data, and resolve discrepancies efficiently and accurately
- Identify system inefficiencies and implement streamlined, technology-driven solutions to improve workflows and reporting
- Assist with system setup, data conversions, and ongoing optimization acrossclient platforms
- Stay current with evolving accounting technologies and apply them to enhance efficiency and client service
Team Leadership & Development:
- Train, mentor, and support junior accounting staff
- Review work prepared by less experienced team members and provide constructive feedback
- Help establish and maintain consistent processes and best practices within the team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in public accounting or a multi-client environment
- Advanced experience with QuickBooks required; experience with additional accounting platforms is a plus
- Demonstrated experience managing and correcting complex or inaccurate financial records
- Experience supporting multiple clients or business entities simultaneously
- Prior experience training or mentoring staff is preferred
