Overview
We are a rapidly growing, newly established insurance platform comprised of Managing General Agents (MGAs) operating across the United States, United Kingdom, and Europe. With a growing team of approximately 700 employees globally, we are seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting to play a key role in building out the consolidated financial reporting and technical accounting functions. This is a unique opportunity to help build the consolidated financial reporting and technical accounting function at a pivotal moment for the Company.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Corporate Controller with global accounting and finance initiatives, including:
- Implementation of our new ERP
- Accounting policy design and implementation, and process improvement initiatives
- Technical accounting matters, as needed
- Own day-to-day accounting for the corporate-level legal entities, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies.
- Maintain corporate-level debt accounting — interest accrual, OID amortization, debt issuance cost amortization, and principal repayment.
- Calculate and book corporate cost allocations to operating subsidiaries; manage corporate-level intercompany invoicing, settlement, balance confirmations, and elimination preparation.
- Calculate and accrue cash and deferred management bonuses; calculate and re-measure acquisition-related earnouts each period.
- Prepare and post journal entries, perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and prepare account analyses and supporting schedules.
- Partner with MGA accounting teams across jurisdictions to support consolidated reporting.
- Coordinate cash flow needs with corporate treasury for payments to business partners and vendors.
- Support our external auditor during the annual audit cycle.
- Assist with special projects and other tasks, as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting and over 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and ownership-oriented mindset are required.
- Experience working in or for a multi-national company dealing with multiple currencies is preferred.
- Experience in the insurance intermediary (MGA, broker) industry preferred.
- Understanding and knowledge of US GAAP.
- Experience working with a Tier 1 ERP (i.e., Oracle, Workday, SAP), preferred.
- Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and vlookups are necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to operate at depth, deliver results, accelerate time to action, and debate openly while committing fully.
- Self-starter capable of getting up to speed quickly in a build-from-scratch environment without significant direction — nothing here has been done before, and we are looking for someone who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and shaping the function as they go.
