If you're organized, analytical, and serious about financial accuracy, Glenmont Job Corps Center is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to help oversee the financial systems and processes that support our Center's daily operations.

This role goes beyond processing transactions.

You'll help oversee financial accounting, payroll, accounts payable, reporting, internal controls, and financial compliance while ensuring financial information is accurate, timely, and handled with integrity.

Think of this role as part accountant, part financial systems leader, part problem-solver, and part team leader.

πŸ“Š What Does a Senior Accountant Actually Do?

Simply put:

You help ensure the Center's financial operations are accurate, organized, compliant, and completed on time.

You'll manage and monitor financial accounting systems while helping ensure the Center meets applicable Company, Center, and Government requirements.

As Senior Accountant, you'll:

πŸ’° Manage Financial Accounting Systems β€” Oversee and maintain financial processes and systems that support Center operations.

🧾 Oversee Payroll & Accounts Payable β€” Help ensure payroll and accounts payable processes are accurate, timely, and properly maintained.

πŸ“Š Maintain Financial Accuracy β€” Review financial information, identify discrepancies, and ensure required reports and deliverables are completed correctly and on time.

πŸ” Analyze & Resolve Issues β€” Evaluate financial systems and data, identify potential concerns, determine causes, and develop appropriate solutions.

πŸ›‘οΈ Maintain Strong Internal Controls β€” Help protect Center resources by maintaining financial controls designed to prevent errors, fraud, misuse, and improper financial activity.

πŸ”’ Protect Confidential Information β€” Handle sensitive financial, payroll, employee, and student information with professionalism and discretion.

🀝 Support Center Operations β€” Provide reliable and efficient financial services that support staff, students, and overall Center operations.

This is also a leadership position.

The Senior Accountant helps ensure employees responsible for financial, payroll, and accounts payable functions produce accurate and timely work.

Leadership responsibilities may include:

βœ” Interviewing and recommending candidates for hire
βœ” Training and developing direct-report employees
βœ” Establishing clear performance expectations
βœ” Monitoring work quality and deadlines
βœ” Motivating and supporting staff development
βœ” Addressing performance concerns when necessary
βœ” Holding employees accountable for accurate and timely work
