Senior Accountant

Job Description

Our client, a continually growing and well-established public accounting firm located in Bedford, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team in a highly visible client-facing role reporting directly to the Partners. This opportunity is initially a maternity leave coverage role, with a strong pathway to permanent placement and long-term growth within the firm. It is ideal for a CPA coming from a small to mid-sized public practice environment who enjoys diverse exposure working with owner-managed businesses and non-profits and is looking for long-term career progression.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Prepare and review Compilation engagement files and financial statements under ASPE
• Prepare and review T1 personal, T2 corporate, and other related tax filings
• Meet directly with year-end clients to provide accounting, tax, and business advice
• Supervise and support bookkeeping team members
• Review reconciliations, working papers, and adjusting journal entries
• Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines concurrently
• Liaise with CRA and other regulatory bodies as required
• Identify tax planning opportunities and value-added client solutions
• Support onboarding of new clients and cloud-based accounting processes
• Contribute to workflow improvements and operational efficiencies
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team culture

• CPA designation required
• Recent public practice experience within a small to mid-sized firm environment
• Proficiency with CaseWare/CaseView, TaxPrep or Cantax, QuickBooks Online, and Excel is an asset
• Technically strong with sound professional judgment and attention to detail
• Client-focused with strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
• Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
• Proven ability to take ownership and thrive in a fast-paced public practice environment
• Experience mentoring or supervising bookkeeping or junior staff is considered an asset
