Job Description:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the company’s accounting operations, financial
reporting, and project accounting activities within a construction environment. This role ensures the
accuracy of financial data, assists with month-end close processes, and supports compliance with
accounting standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
 Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
 Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting
 Maintain and analyze job cost accounting, project budgets, and cost tracking
 Prepare and monitor work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and revenue recognition reporting
 Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies
 Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis for construction projects and
operational activities
 Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to review project performance,
contract status, and cost variances
 Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company procedures
 Support external audits, tax preparation, and other compliance-related reporting requirements
 Assist with fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure tracking
 Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased operational efficiency
 Mentor or assist junior accounting staff as needed
Qualifications:
 Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry
 Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job costing and percentage-
of-completion accounting
 Experience preparing WIP schedules and project-based financial reporting
 Knowledge of GAAP and internal control practices
 Experience with ERP or construction accounting software systems
 Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
 Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
 Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
 Effective communication and collaboration skills across accounting and operations teams
 CPA designation or progress toward certification is preferred but not required
