Senior Accountant

Job Description

6 Degrees Group is recruiting for a Senior Accountant in Atlanta for a large, well-established international law firm. This role is central to the firm's accounting close process, general ledger management, and financial reporting.  You will be owning key pieces of the monthly close process and general ledger and will work closely with internal departments and financial services teams. If you have a solid accounting foundation and enjoy both the detail work and the bigger-picture process side, this is a great fit.  

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile accounts monthly; dig into discrepancies to find the root cause and coordinate with internal teams to get transactions posted correctly
• Prepare and enter monthly journal entries; review the general ledger to catch and correct any improper coding and ensure consistency across offices and accounting periods
• Analyze monthly P&L statements, investigate budget variances, and prepare and distribute monthly financial statements 
• Support year-end audit workpapers, assist with bank compliance activities, and get involved in process improvement projects across the accounting function

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
• Minimum 3 years of experience in external audit or accounting; Big 4 or law firm background is a plus
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger processes, chart of accounts, and financial statement prep
• Great communicator who can work independently, manage tight deadlines, and collaborate across departments
