Job Description: Seed Accounting Specialist
Summary/Objective
The Seed Accounting Specialist will be responsible for various accounting functions within our corporate accounting group directly related to the seed portion of our Retail division. This position is responsible for managing inventory listings, processing inventory movement, monitoring and troubleshooting grower sales reporting as well as maintaining a general understanding of current seed programs and offerings.
The Seed Accounting Specialist will report to the Accounting Manager and work closely with others in the accounting department and Retail locations. This position will be located in the Main Office in Springfield, IL.
Essential Functions
- Manage Seed Inventory Listings in ERP system (Agvance)
- Update/Manage Product Listings
- Update Product Pricing (Seasonally)
- Process Inventory Movement of Seed Products
- Create and Process Purchases & Returns of Seed Products
- Collect and Release Seed Orders for Treatment
- Manufacture Seed Treatment Orders
- Create Intercompany & Manufacturer Transfers of Seed Products
- Monitor & Troubleshoot Grower Sales Reporting
- Maintain General Understanding of Seed Programs and Offerings
- Analyze Data from Agvance and Generate Reports
- Ability to Compile Data into Excel for Analysis
- Perform Other Duties as Assigned

Work Environment
Professional office environment. This position requires competency in using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and software such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Classification/Expected Hours of Employment
This position is a full time position and is exempt from minimum wage and overtime pay requirements under federal and all applicable state or local laws. Days and hours of work are generally 8:00am to 5:00pm, with some extended hours needed as seasonal demands may vary.
Travel
This position does not require any travel.
Required Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field or 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Intermediate computer and software skills required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience in the Agriculture field highly desired
