Summary:

The Regional Inventory & Procurement Manager is responsible for leading all inventory management, procurement, replenishment, and inventory optimization activities across the East Region. This position manages a team of Inventory Analysts and Procurement Specialists and oversees approximately $70 million in inventory investment across multiple distribution centers and branch locations. The role is accountable for ensuring the right inventory is in the right location at the right time while maximizing inventory turns, improving working capital, reducing excess and obsolete inventory, and supporting profitable sales growth. This leader will partner closely with Regional Leadership, General Managers, Product Managers, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, and key supplier partners to drive inventory excellence and procurement best practices throughout the region.

What You’ll Do:

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 6+ Inventory Analysts and Procurement professionals across the East Region. Establish performance objectives, KPIs, and development plans for team members. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making. Coordinate inventory management activities across multiple locations to ensure consistency and execution of regional strategies.

Inventory Management

Manage approximately $70 million in inventory assets across the region. Develop and execute regional inventory strategies to optimize inventory turns, days on hand, return on working capital, service levels, and availability. Monitor inventory health and implement corrective actions to address excess inventory, dead stock, slow-moving inventory, and product shortages. Lead SKU rationalization initiatives to improve inventory productivity and warehouse utilization. Establish inventory governance processes and best practices across all facilities.

Procurement & Replenishment

Direct purchasing activities and replenishment strategies for regional product categories. Ensure disciplined buying practices that support inventory objectives and customer demand. Analyze supplier performance, lead times, fill rates, and procurement costs. Partner with suppliers to improve availability, service levels, and cost competitiveness. Identify volume purchasing opportunities and leverage regional buying power to create margin improvement. Develop forecasting methodologies that improve purchasing accuracy and inventory deployment.

Financial & Business Performance

Manage inventory investments to achieve working capital and EBITDA objectives. Monitor regional inventory metrics and provide recommendations to improve profitability. Support gross margin improvement through better purchasing decisions and inventory positioning. Develop business cases and performance reporting for inventory initiatives. Identify opportunities to reduce carrying costs and improve cash flow.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Partner with Regional Vice Presidents, General Managers, Product Managers, Supply Chain, and Operations leaders to align inventory strategies with business objectives. Facilitate inventory balancing and transfer opportunities between branches. Support new product introductions, inventory transitions, and supplier conversions. Lead inventory-related projects, process improvements, and system enhancements.

Continuous Improvement

Develop and maintain inventory management policies, SOPs, and best practices. Utilize analytics and reporting tools to identify trends and opportunities. Lead regional initiatives focused on inventory optimization, procurement efficiency, service level improvement, supply chain performance, and cost reduction.

What We’re Looking For:

Required

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Operations, or related field. 7+ years of inventory management, procurement, supply chain, or distribution leadership experience. 3+ years of direct people management experience. Experience managing large inventory investments, with $100M+ preferred. Strong analytical and financial acumen. Advanced proficiency in Excel, reporting, and inventory management systems. Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives across multiple locations.

Preferred

Building products, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or supply chain experience. CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, Lean, Six Sigma, or related certification. Experience leading centralized purchasing or regional procurement functions. Experience with ERP and inventory optimization systems.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate based on the position requirements and market data. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations. BlueLinx also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health care, dental, vision, life and disability insurance starting the first day of the month, 15 days of paid time off that start accruing your first day, and 8 paid holidays per year.
