What You Will Do
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation/management of the full cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of properties. It is essential that this candidate brings analytical, organizational and attention to detail skills to best support the accounting team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including general ledgers, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and variance analyses
- Prepare bank reconciliations, AR and AP subsidiary to General Ledger tie outs for assigned entities to ensure integrity of all financial data
- Record and analyze journal entries, accruals, prepaids and other accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP and company policies
- Oversee Accounts Receivable, process tenant receipts, charges and Accounts Payable for check processing
- Monitor cash activity
- Prepare detailed monthly and year-end workpapers for key balance sheet and income statement accounts
- Prepare and distribute quarterly financial reports requested by various lenders
- Post/review retail tenant billings, rent rolls, CAM reconciliations and other property related transactions
- Coordinate monthly, quarter and year-end close activities while meeting stablished deadlines
- Collaborate with Property Management, Asset Management and other teams to resolve accounting issues, explain financial results, and support operational decision-making
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting and internal/external audit processes
- Prepare/file state, county, and city tax filings
- Understand and comply with GAAP and Internal Policy & Procedures
- Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives as assigned by management
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 2+ years of Accounting experience. Real Estate Accounting preferred
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management ERP is preferred
- Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organizational skills are required
- Ability to multitask and prioritize your workload
