Talon Hiring Solutions has a client in the Hoover AL area that is looking for a Project Accountant to join the team! This position plays a key role in managing the financial aspects of projects from start to finish. This includes initiating new project assignment forms, issuing and tracking client agreements, setting up billing schedules, preparing customer invoices, processing consultant, engineering, vendor proposals and invoices, and ensuring accurate job cost tracking.

What you will do:
- Set up and maintain client billing schedules in coordination with project contracts.
- Track project revenue and costs on a percentage-of-completion (POC) basis.
- Billing clients at appropriate milestones in accordance with the project’s contract.
- Draft and submit invoices to clients in a timely and accurate manner.
- Receive, review, and record consultants, engineering, and vendor proposals and invoices against the appropriate jobs.
- Track project costs and maintain consultant accrual balances in alignment with ASC 606 percentage-of- completion revenue recognition standards.
- Process timely payments to consultants and engineers upon receipt of client funds, in alignment with a pay-when-paid (PWP) standard.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure financial data integrity across projects.
What you will bring:
- 3–10 years of experience in project accounting, preferably in architecture, engineering, or construction industries.
- Familiarity with job cost accounting and project billing processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint is highly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is a plus but not required — industry experience is most critical.
