We are searching for a talented Project Accountant who will report to the Cost Accountant. Primarily, he or she will be responsible for performing detailed accounting and costing functions for specific projects. This individual will be handling the day-to-day responsibilities of job costing, project analysis and follow up as a member of the operational and sales teams, assisting with payroll, preparing monthly journal entries, account analysis, month-end closing, and production of monthly reports for management (additional personal reports may be required for the President/Owners) and other accounting duties, as assigned. In addition this individual will be involved in assisting with the preparation of the annual budgets and in preparing data for the outside accounting firm related to the annual audit and the preparation of tax returns.
Qualifications
- Collects and calculates Job Cost data including material, labor, subcontractor and equipment costs and ensures accurate bi-weekly job costing data is published to all Satellite Directors and assigned Project
- Analyzes costing data obtained, and investigates variances from budgets.
- Analyzes changes in material or services provided to determine effects on costs.
- Provides Management Team with reports of Job Costs for
- Assists in developing new equipment usage rates and coordinates update to job take-off budgets in computer system.
- Prepares and oversees monthly journal entries and maintains and adjusts accruals as
- Performs detailed account analysis and posts adjustments as needed.
- Performs and assists with job follow ups including collection of retainage balances and/or past due account balances where appropriate.
- Performs month-end closing functions.
- Prepares month-end reports for management use as well as other reports as requested.
- Completes AIA contracts and related schedules of values.
- Assists assigned project manager with all aspects of the job paperwork including change orders, purchase orders and subcontract paperwork.
- Assists the Accounts Receivable team and the administrative team to ensure jobs are properly recorded and billed to the customer in a timely fashion.
Requirements
- The ideal candidate will possess the following minimum requirements to be considered:
- BS Degree in Accounting
- Must have excellent communication skills and a natural ability to work in a fast-paced and growing
- Must be detail oriented and highly
- Must have the ability to multi-task and meet
- Strong sense of urgency
- Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a construction or related industry.
- Very strong Job Costing and General Accounting skills
- Must have strong knowledge of computerized accounting systems with financial analysis capabilities.
- Proficient with personal computers and software including Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Expertise with Microsoft Dynamics and Business Central software a plus.
