Project Accountant

Our client is hiring for a Project Accountant in Alpharetta, GA. This opportunity is with a growing construction organization seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to support project financial operations and collaborate closely with project managers. The role offers exposure to process improvements, automation initiatives, and evolving accounting technologies within a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates will bring strong construction accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and process AIA billings, owner pay applications, subcontractor pay applications, and lien waivers
• Maintain project cost tracking, budget-to-actual reporting, and assist with month-end close and job cost reviews
• Support multiple project managers with financial reporting, billing cycles, and accounts receivable management
• Build and maintain Excel-based reporting tools, reconciliations, and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

• Construction accounting experience strongly preferred; project accounting experience within architecture or engineering environments considered
• Strong knowledge of AIA billing, subcontractor pay applications, and lien waiver processes
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and reporting tool development
• Experience with an ERP/accounting system related to construction is preferred along with strong organizational and multitasking abilities
