Trinity Industries is seeking a Cost Accounting Program Manager for its headquarters office in Dallas, TX. This Cost Accounting Program Manager will be a member of Trinity’s Rail Products Accounting team. This role provides deep cost-accounting expertise, leads complex cost analysis initiatives, strengthens cost-control frameworks, and drives financial insights critical to operational decision-making. The Program Manager partners across Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Finance to enhance cost transparency, improve inventory accuracy, and identify margin-improvement opportunities.
What You’ll Do:
Develop advanced costing models, conduct scenario and variance analyses, advise on cost-efficient operational strategies, and ensure high-quality cost reporting aligned with GAAP and internal standards.
Lead complex cost-accounting analysis including cost modeling, variance analysis, and margin optimization initiatives
Own the integrity, structure, and continuous improvement of cost-accounting systems and master data, including standard cost updates and semi-annual cost setting processes.
Lead and execute key components of the month-end accounting close
Drive automation, reporting enhancements, and analytics modernization within cost accounting
Strengthen internal controls across cost-accounting processes; participate in audit reviews and remediation
Serve as SME on cost related questions from business partners
Determine process enhancements for cost-accounting systems and reporting
Empowered to resolve or escalate any issues that may affect the accuracy or timing of the month-end-close
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required
7+ years of experience in cost accounting, accounting, or similar required
CPA or CMA preferred
Strong command of Excel, ERP cost modules, and analytics tools
Advanced proficiency in cost-modeling, standard costing, and manufacturing
Requires accuracy and timeliness of revenue, cost of goods sold, inventory valuations, and variance reporting
Effectiveness in partnering with Operations, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams required
Demonstrated leadership in automation, data integrity, and system optimization needed
