With our historic growth, it is an exciting time to join our team of employee-owners.This opportunity entails being responsible for providing guidance to the program management team to ensure the appropriate delivery of contractual obligations in various financial areas, including Contracting, Cash Management, Subcontract Management, Change Management, Cost Management, and Financial Controls. This role plays a critical part in implementing best business practices in alignment with the firm's policies and standards of performance throughout the program's lifecycle. The Program Finance Manager is the lead finance advisor on programs of at least Super Mega magnitude with complex financial structures and interdependencies between client programs.
Responsible for the financial oversight of one or more programs of moderate complexity, which may include programs where HNTB is the managing Joint Venture (J/V) partner. Moderate complexity typically involves well-established processes and predictable challenges. Examples of moderate complexity include programs with existing clients, clear objectives, and limited subconsultant complexity.
What You’ll Do:
- Provides financial counsel to the Program Manager, engaging with clients, project teams, and subconsultant management to maintain financial discipline.
- Provides subject matter expertise in project finance and controls oversight, making recommendations to maximize cash performance and gross margin. Assist in decision-making, including the creation and implementation of policies, practices, and procedures.
- Develops, manages, and maintains elements of the Project Management Plan, covering items such as the Cost Management Plan, Change Management Plan, Project Review Action Plans, Project Financial Workplan, Risk Management Plan, Document Control Plan, and Cash Management Plan.
- Directs and oversees the development, evaluation, and analysis of project financial and control tasks for a program, including fee proposals, burn/revenue analysis, labor and cash flow forecasts, project schedules, and monthly performance analysis.
- Oversees program month-end reporting and revenue recognition activities, ensuring adherence to internal and external governance requirements. Provides guidance to project finance teams for updated financial project deliverables to key stakeholders.
- Manages the program's cash management goals, including profitability or gross margin analysis to assess projected outcomes.
- Delivers timely updates on program performance that influence office results to the office management team.
- Establishes client and subconsultant relationships within the program, ensuring effective client service and efficient subconsultant management achieving the financial goals of the program.
- May be responsible for hiring, supervising, managing, training, and mentoring project finance staff. Responsible for assigning tasks and duties. Manages all aspects of the Career Planning and Development process, including goal setting, coaching, and performance and compensation evaluation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of financial, project accounting/analysis, or related experience, or
- In lieu of education, 11 years of financial, project accounting/analysis, or related work experience
What We Prefer:
- Knowledge of and experience supporting transportation and infrastructure projects, including Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) contracts and clients/agencies such as the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT), Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), and Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT)
- Familiarity with DOT contracting, project controls, billing requirements, revenue recognition, and financial management practices within the AEC industry.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or related field
- Master's degree in business or engineering
- Knowledge of project financial management/cost controls
- Knowledge of accounting/financial principles and practices
- Knowledge of A/E industry
