About the Role
As the Procurement Specialist, you will support and enhance current procurement operations across the organization. You’ll lead initiatives focused on process improvement, contract negotiation, department development while ensuring smooth product and service rollouts. This role is critical in managing vendor relationships, mitigating risk, and driving strategic initiatives.
What We’re Looking For
- At least two (2) years’ experience with procurement practices; MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations) experience preferred.
- Associate’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent procurement work or experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and database systems.
- Ability to work onsite at our corporate office in Lincoln, Nebraska.
- Strong customer service mindset with excellent communication skills, combined with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new concepts and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Procurement Administration
- Lead procurement processes across departments, including decentralized purchasing, competitive sourcing (RFQs/RFPs), and product/service rollouts.
- Partner with Accounts Payable to resolve issues and assist in developing purchase approval workflows and system integrations.
- Enhance systems, reporting, and KPIs through cross-functional collaboration while identifying opportunities and mitigating risks.
- Vendor Administration
- Support vendor management through interdepartmental coordination and maintenance of the vendor master database.
- Assist with new vendor onboarding and updates to existing vendor records, ensuring accurate and compliant data.
- Source and negotiate with vendors as needed, monitor performance, manage ordering platforms, maintain relationships, and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Team Collaboration
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of departmental operations, Accounts Payable processes, and internal systems.
- Support strategic initiatives and change management efforts while promoting alignment with organizational goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure compliance with standards, support tool development, and maintain effective communication across departments.
